{"id":220,"date":"2011-09-28T18:13:24","date_gmt":"2011-09-28T23:13:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shereadsinthedark.com\/?p=220"},"modified":"2011-09-28T18:13:24","modified_gmt":"2011-09-28T23:13:24","slug":"34-weeks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shereadsinthedark.com\/?p=220","title":{"rendered":"34 weeks!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>What&#8217;s going on this week:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Your baby now weighs about 4 3\/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers \u2014 which will help regulate her body temperature once she&#8217;s born \u2014 are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you&#8217;ve been nervous about preterm labor, you&#8217;ll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>My Update: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Due Date: November 4, 2011 \u2013\u00a0 (since I&#8217;m late updating this week, as of today, I&#8217;m actually 34w5d, so only 37 days to go!)<\/p>\n<p>Weight Gain: +22 lbs from pre-preg weight.<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms: Stretch marks.\u00a0 Snoring.\u00a0 Fatigue.\u00a0 Achey hips and back.\u00a0 Pregnancy is glamorous!<\/p>\n<p>Cravings\/Aversions:\u00a0 No change.\u00a0 Although I did have my very first bout of pregnancy heartburn the other night in the middle of the night.\u00a0 No fun.<\/p>\n<p>Sleep:\u00a0 OK.\u00a0 The snoring is tough on Scott, and I&#8217;m having to get up about 3 or 4 times a night to pee, and sitting up in bed is kind of painful, so I have to sit on the edge for a minute before actually standing up, but I still fall asleep really easily, so overall, I can&#8217;t complain.<\/p>\n<p>I am loving:\u00a0 That the nursery is pretty much DONE!\u00a0 Except for some small decorative details, all the major components are completed.\u00a0 WHEW!!<\/p>\n<p>I miss:\u00a0 Family.\u00a0 It was a crazy, hectic weekend with lots of visitors, and while I&#8217;m glad to get back to a normal routine, I miss everyone, too.\u00a0 Lisa, Ada, Mom, Dad, Ali, Grace, Meredith and Tripp all came to town for the baby shower and Karen and Jim drove up for the day.\u00a0 I am so lucky to have such great family.<\/p>\n<p>Movement:\u00a0 Good &#8211; I think that one night this weekend, he flipped &#8211; I noticed I could feel hiccups high on my right side, but by the next day, I felt them way down low again, so maybe he just needed a quick change of scenery?\u00a0 At my midwife appt yesterday, she did a lot of feeling around (it was painful, in case you were wondering &#8211; so much so that she made my uterus contract a couple of times, which, thankfully didn&#8217;t hurt) and was pretty positive he was head down again, so that was good.<\/p>\n<p><em> <\/em> Nursery progress:\u00a0 See above = DONE!\u00a0 There will be a separate post soon with pictures and details.<\/p>\n<p>Exercise: Nothing specific to speak of.\u00a0 This weekend was very active, though, so now I&#8217;m recuperating and trying to take it easy.<\/p>\n<p>Looking forward to:\u00a0 Ummm&#8230;.with all the visiting and showers over, I&#8217;m kind of at a loss for something to look forward to.\u00a0 Maybe having this baby?\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p>Belly Shot:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.shereadsinthedark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Julie-Week-34.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-221\" title=\"Julie - Week 34\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shereadsinthedark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Julie-Week-34-209x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"209\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.shereadsinthedark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Julie-Week-34-209x300.jpg 209w, http:\/\/www.shereadsinthedark.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/Julie-Week-34-716x1024.jpg 716w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 209px) 100vw, 209px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What&#8217;s going on this week: Your baby now weighs about 4 3\/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long.
