24 weeks

What’s new with the baby?

Your baby’s growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he’s almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he’ll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Food comparison this week is…
How am I feeling?

Good – not too much to report, really.  Lots of good movement the last couple of days, so that’s been nice.  My energy is good.  I’ve been taking some naps on the weekends, which has been really nice, and the weather is wonderful so we’ve been outside getting a lot of fresh air!

Weight gain?
I think I’ll wait till my next appt on the 7th for this!
What do I miss?  What am I looking forward to?

I’m not really looking forward to Daylight Savings Time kicking in next weekend.  I love the onset of fall and winter, but I could do without it getting dark at 5pm.  We like playing outside in the evening when it feels the most pleasant, so this will be hard to adjust to.  Maybe we’ll just use flashlights.

Preparedness?

No change here.  I got pictures of the bed and tables taken so I just need to get it posted online for sale.  Then comes cleaning out the last bits and pieces and painting and carpet cleaning!  I washed all the newborn and 0-3 month clothing this weekend, so that counts, too!

Highlights of the week?

Hmmm…nothing I can think of, specifically.  We’re kind of in same-old, same-old mode right now.
